We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping children grow physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually. As a Teacher’s Aide you will work and collaborate with others while fostering a warm and nurturing environment for preschool students. In this role you will assist the Lead Teacher with preparing materials for lessons, preparing snacks, supervising children and assisting with bus transportation as needed. The Teacher’s Aide also plays an important role in the classroom by sharing bible stories and leading prayer with students. This role requires attention to detail, including great communication and organizational skills. Job Responsibilities:
Assist the Lead Teacher with preparing materials for lessons, preparing snacks and supervising children.
Assist the Lead Teacher with record keeping; including but not limited to tuition payments, attendance and calculating grades.
Monitor supplies and equipment including: preparation, clean up, organization of storage and equipment areas, play areas, follows monthly cleaning and disinfecting chart for all areas.
Reinforces lessons presented by Lead Teacher by reviewing materials with students.
Ability to implement Christian curriculum including bible stories and prayer with students, parents, board members and other staff members.
Help enforce school and class rules to help teach students proper behavior.
Promote good health and safety habits and apply this to snack preparation.
Meet regularly with the Lead Teacher to clarify job roles and responsibilities.
Be a representative of St. Matthew Community Preschool and participate in fundraising events and other important community events.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Lead Teacher or Organization Board.
Maintain a current First Aid and CPR Certification card.
Safely transport students by bus to and/or from daycare to preschool as required.
Job Qualifications and Requirements: Teacher Aide / Assistant Teacher education and experience required. Must have one of the following:
High school diploma or GED or Minnesota license as a family day care or group family day care provider, 12 quarter credits and 2,080 hours as an aide or student intern.
Minnesota technical institute certificate as a Child Development Assistant and 520 hours as an aide or student intern.
Two (2) years full-time post secondary education from a college or university, 9 quarter credits and 1,040 hours as an aide or student intern.
Child Development Associate credential, center based for family day care, from the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition.
Baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited college or university.
Certificate or credential for a two (2) year program in a child development or early childhood education at a Minnesota community college or technical college.
License from the Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning for Prekindergarten Association.
Possess a First Aid and CPR Certification Cards (or willing to obtain each)
A valid Driver’s License
