About our classrooms
Mixed Three and Four Year Old ClassStudents in our mixed three/four year old class learn basic concepts and their activities focus on playing and cooperating within a group. The children will be taught how to follow directions, share with others, and work together in group activities. Classroom activities will help them make choices, problem-solve and develop motor skills.
Counting, addition and subtraction skills, numeral, shape and color recognition, positional concepts, experimentation, safety awareness, and artistic expression are also part of our classroom curriculum. In addition, many opportunities are provided for large muscle activities in our outside green space and playground. We also do daily special activities in our Busy Bee classroom. |
Pre-Kindergarten ClassIn our Pre-Kindergarten program, learning center activities are created that require advanced small motor skills such as coloring, drawing, cutting, gluing, and tracing. Occasionally, fun learning pages are used to reinforce proper pencil grip, eye-hand coordination, listening skills, following directions, and continued practice of proper name writing. Limited teacher direction is given. This encourages self-help, emotional maturation, and independent thinking.
Time is also spent throughout the year on letter recognition and phonemic awareness, but reading is not taught. In addition, students will continue to spend time on socialization, counting, addition and subtraction skills, numeral, shape, color recognition, positional concepts, experimentation and artistic expression during their two and a half hour class period. |
