Team Teacher


As part of our preschool team you will work and collaborate with others while fostering a warm and nurturing environment for preschool students. In this role you will prepare materials for lessons, prepare snacks, share bible stories, lead prayer and supervise children while promoting safety as well as assist with student transportation as needed. Establish and maintain open communication with children, parents, preschool staff, church staff, and State of Minnesota licensing personnel is required. This role requires attention to detail, good communication, time management and organizational skills.
Qualifications: 
Combination of education and experience generally acquired through the attainment of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Ability to demonstrate and consistently model St. Matthew Community Preschool’s values and foster an inclusive work environment.
Essential Functions:

  • ​Implement preschool-based curriculum and media that meets the emotional, physical, cognitive, social and spiritual needs of both the individual and the group.
  • Ability to share Christian stories, song and prayer with students.
  • Prepare lesson plans which are age-appropriate and include activities in all the necessary areas of child development.
  • Manage time accurately by preparing materials for lessons in advance.
  • Use appropriate and positive discipline by encouraging school and class rules to help teach students proper behavior and attention to safety and also overseeing student safety, including fire, tornado, and lock down drills.
  • Maintain record keeping; including tuition payments and attendance.
  • Monitor supplies and maintain organization of storage and play areas.
  • Follows weekly and monthly cleaning and disinfecting schedules
  • Notify Preschool Director of any maintenance needs.
  • Promote good health and safety habits and apply this to snack preparation.
  • Collaborate well with others
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents; including the Class Dojo app, weekly emails, monthly calendars and social media.
  • Communicate with daycare providers arrival/departure schedules for school year, as well as daily communication as needed for delays, school closures or changes to the route.
  • Be a representative of St. Matthew Community Preschool and participate in fundraising events and other important community events.
  • Schedule one community activity into curriculum each month (example: field trip, special visitors)
  • Safely transport students to and/or from daycare to preschool as required.
  • Attendance at staff meetings as needed. The team will provide a monthly update (classroom updates, transportation updates, concerns, enrollment, miscellaneous) prior to the Preschool Board meeting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Preschool Board.
  • Maintain a current First Aid and CPR Certification card.
  • Complete and maintain State of Minnesota’s BEST certification for Basic Education for Travel. Renew every 5 years.
  • Complete continuing education requirements as required by the State of Minnesota.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a High School Dip from an accredited institution and/or qualifies for employment under Minnesota State Guidelines. OR 
  • Combination of a high school diploma and adequate hours of childcare experience. Have two (2) years of successful teaching experience with children in elementary education or preschool.
  • Maintain a First Aid and CPR Certification card (or willing to obtain each)
  • A valid Driver’s License.
  • Maintain a State of Minnesota BEST certification for Basic Education for Travel.
Job Type: Full-time (11 months - August through June)
Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour plus additional compensation for transportation

Grade levels: Pre-Kindergarten
Schedule: Day shift - Approximately 35 hours per week during the school year.
