As the Teacher Assistant you will work and collaborate with others while fostering a warm and nurturing environment for preschool students. In this role you will assist the Lead Teacher in preparing materials for lessons, preparing snacks, sharing bible stories, leading prayer, and supervising children as well as assisting with bus transportation as needed. Establish and maintain open communication with children, parents, preschool staff, church staff, visitors and State of Minnesota licensing personnel. This role requires attention to detail, including great communication and organizational skills. Qualifications: Combination of education and experience generally acquired through the attainment of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the ability to:
Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing materials for lessons, preparing snacks and supervising children.
Assist the Lead Teacher with record keeping; including but not limited to tuition payments, attendance and calculating grades.
Monitor supplies and equipment including; preparation, clean up, organization of storage and equipment areas, play areas.
Follows weekly and monthly cleaning / disinfecting chart for all areas, including empty bathroom garbage, vacuum preschool hallway and clean cubbies.
Notify Lead Teacher of any maintenance needs.
Reinforce lessons presented by Lead Teacher by reviewing materials with students.
Ability to implement Christian curriculum including bible stories and prayer with students, parents, board members and other staff members.
Help enforce school and class rules to help teach students proper behavior.
Promote good health and safety habits and apply this to snack preparation.
Collaborates well with others; including children, parents, board members, church staff, visitors and State of Minnesota licensing personnel.
Be a representative of St. Matthew Community Preschool and participate in fundraising events and other important community events.
Maintain communication via social media; making timely posts and updates on what is happening in the classroom as applicable.
Maintain open communication with the Lead Teacher. Be supportive and helpful. If problems arise, report to the Preschool Board.
Safely transport students by bus to and/or from daycare to preschool as required.
Obtain and maintain the State of Minnesota BEST certification for Best Education for Travel. Renew every 5 years.
Maintain a current First Aid and CPR Certification card.
Attend meetings and/or trainings as required.

Diploma from Association Montessori International or preprimary credential, primary diploma, or provisional certificate from the American Montessori Society
Experience: 520 hours as an aide or student intern
Education: 3 quarter credits
Minnesota technical institute certificate as a Child Development Assistant
Experience: 520 hours as an aide or student intern
Education: no additional required
Two (2) years full-time post-secondary education from a college or university
Experience:1,040 hours as an aide or student intern
Education: 9 quarter credits.
Child Development Associate credential, center based for family daycare, from the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition

Baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited college or university

Certificate or credential for a two (2) year program in a child development or early childhood education at a Minnesota community college at a Minnesota community college or technical college
