Title: Aide or Assistant Teacher (part-time)
Part time Mon through Thurs 8:00am - 3:30pm
 
Job Summary: Works  and collaborates with others while fostering a warm and nurturing environment in which children can grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually.  Must enjoy working with children.  Must have great communication and organizational skills.
 
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Assistant teacher education and experience required.  Must have one of following
    • High school diploma or GED or Minnesota license as a family day care or group family day care provider, 12 quarter credits and 2,080 hours as an aide or student intern
    • Minnesota technical institute certificate as a Child Development Assistant and 520 hours as an aide or student intern
    • Two years full-time postsecondary education from a college or university, 9 quarter credits and 1,040 hours as an aide or student intern
    • Child Development Associate credential
    • Certificate or credential for a two year program in child development or early childhood education at a Minnesota community college or technical college
    • License from the Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning for Prekindergarten Association
  • Ability to implement Christian curriculum including Bible stories and prayer while working corporately with children, parents, board members and other staff members
  • Possess a current First Aid and CPR card (or willing to obtain one)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proficiency in computer use  
 
Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Assists the teacher in preparing materials for lessons, preparing snacks and supervising children. 
  • Helps teacher with record keeping including but not limited to, tuition payments, attendance and calculating grades
  • Monitors supplies and equipment, preparation and clean up, organizes storage and equipment areas along with play areas, follows monthly cleaning and disinfecting chart for all areas
  • Reinforces lessons presented by teacher by reviewing material with students
  • Helps enforce school and class rules to help teach students proper behavior
  • Promotes good health and safety habits and applies this to snack preparations.
  • Meets regularly with the teacher to clarify job roles and responsibilities
  • Acts as representative of the agency in the community. Partakes in fundraising events and other important community events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Lead Teacher or Organization Board
